BROAD MAJOR SPONSOR FOR 2010
November 24, 2009
I am very pleased to announce an extension and expansion of my sponsorships with Broad Construction.
Managing director, Kari Rummukainen has been a fantastic supporter and I am ecstatic to be wearing the Broad logo on the front and centre of my Australian Uniform in 2010. I am hopeful that my results will help bring pride and exposure to the Broad brand both within Australia and Overseas.
From the Broad site:
“Broad started life as a construction company. But with hard work and success comes growth and diversification. Founder and current Managing Director, Kari Rummukainen, is still at the helm of what is now Broad Group Holdings Pty Ltd.
While construction is still at its core, Broad now encompasses subsidiary companies Silverton Group Pty Ltd and Metro Developments Australia Pty Ltd, offering clients a full service approach to their construction and property development needs”

Howdy Folks,
Well I have a new media gig for 2010 with www.duathlon247.com the world’s biggest duathlon site.
The blog was announced through the site today and I am looking forward to helping promote the great sport of Duathlon.
“Duathlon247 are excited to announce that Raf Baugh, the ITU world #4 ranked duathlete, will be writing a monthly blog outlining some of the biggest short distance duathlon races in the world. The wealth of experience Raf has gathered from racing and traveling around the world means he will be a highly valued addition to the Duathlon247 team.
In his first blog next month Raf will be giving us all the low down on the International Duathlon of Lanzarote and he’ll also be bringing us news from some of the cross duathlons in southern Spain; so watch this space”.
2nd ITU Asian Duathlon Championships

Howdy Folks
Well I have got on top of quite a few athletes the later half of this year with improved running strength but the Frenchman Damian Derobert is still a little stonger again. I tried to apply the blowtorch out of the final transition but he followed and was able to surge strongly mid race and build a gap I couldn’t bridge. In the end, he took the win by 12 seconds and I comfortably beat Yakovlev from Russia and Japan’s Yuya Fukuara. The race was typically hot and humid and I learnt a big lesson from the Thailand World Series event in March and downed a 500ml biddon of water with 2 carboshotz and a 600ml bottle of Carboshotz electrolyte drink. It resulted in a much stronger finish and worked perfectly.
The race was the final round of the ITU World Series and I will finish with the #3 world ranking with the ITU behind Derobert and Yakovlev.

Off to ITU Asian Duathlon Championships
November 12, 2009
Tomorrow I am off to Subic Bay in the Philippines for the final leg of the ITU World Series Duathlon.
My last few weeks of training have been steady and trying to nurse my hamstring through one final race before getting it looked at. It has been holding up well so I am confident I can pick up a place or two in the World Rankings and perhaps finish the year with a World Cup Victory.
The race will feature the World #1 and 2 (Yakovlev of Russia and Derobert from France) and a few other well ranked athletes but the depth is relatively light due to the length of the season and alot of athletes shifting attention to next year.
After the race, it is 2 months of training and no racing so I can focus on family and the new business www.therunningcentre.com.au
Running Regards
Raf
