Having arrived in London last Sunday I have
had a perfect three days of training here in London while completing
my last hard workouts leading into the “Heartbreaker Duathlon”
on Sunday. I found out today that I will be running over familiar
territory during the race … at least over the timing mats!
WA’s own Andrew Peterson and the team at RFID timing have
recently supplied the race organisers with a new timing system
… check out www.rfidtiming.com
for more info on their products!
A funny story from my final track session … former Olympic
100m champion Linford Christie was down at the track coaching
and warming up with his athletes …. he had parked his car
in the spot most convenient to himself and quite illegally …
soon a group of parking attendants gathered by his expensive sports
car (arriving one after another over a couple of minutes )…
the poor blokes couldn’t decide who was going to issue the
ticket or ask him to move the car … he is still a massive
unit and it was obvious they knew it was his car …. 30 min
later and after many glances were exchanged between both parties,
the attendants left without doing a thing! The entertainment made
my session of 1km reps pass all the more quickly.
I have also been doing some final physio work
with Benita Johnson (2004 World Cross Country Champion) to help
her prepare for the Chicago Marathon this weekend. She left today
looking super fit. This girl can handle an amazing amount of training
… over 160km/week for the past 11 weeks. Her dedication
and single minded focus on achieving her best is admirable and
she deserves every success this weekend.
Finally they will have live updates from this
weekends race at www.heartbeat-events.co.uk
